How To Find the Perfect Family Cruise?
3/31/2007 2:18:55 PM Link

The cost of family travel and perfect familye cruise can exceed your budget. Cruises may not be perfect in some ways but they can offer a very affordable fun vacation for the whole family.

You like others may be a first time cruiser and are not sure if cruise lines offer children programs?  They do and most mass market cruise lines are family and children friendly.

If you are still uneasy about your family cruiseI suggest you try a shorter cruise such as a 3-5 day.  This will give you plenty of time to sample the cruise life without breaking the pocket book.

Life on cruise is fun, simple and relaxing. All you do is pack and board the ship from there you do as little or as much as you want. You can spend the whole time with your family andchildren or you can use the on board children's programs. It's been said many times by past guests that once their children enroll in the ships
children's program they do not want to leave it.  In fact, the children even preferred eating with their new friends instead of a 2 hour dinner with their parents. Cruises do offer a freedom for parents and kids to do things together and apart.

Family cruising has increased over 200% according to Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

The key is to plan ahead when selecting the cruise of your dreams. You need to select the ship and destination that is right for your family.  Choosing your ship, stateroom, shore excursions  and cruise line's extras carefully, is a must.

Booking a cruise affords you an opportunity to get what you wish. So be practical and honest with what the family prefers. i.e. sand and sun, glaciers, wildlife, moon and stars, rainforest's, or culture.

Here are some tips for destination cruising based on Children's groups.

Teenagers and pre-teens are suited to places that are history oriented. This group may enjoy strolling down boulevards, touring castles, trendy shopping.

Pre-schooler may be a bit of a challenge.  Finding cruise lines that change diapers is not always easy. However, some do. Many cruise lines have age restrictions for infants to travel.

Grade schoolers probably cruise the easiest. They generally like any programs and like to meet new
friends. Cruise lines offer scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, and computer games.

Teens should look for cruise lines that offer facilities to keep then entertained. This group can be the hardest to keep happy.

Most mass market cruise lines will separate the younger passengers by age group. This really helps make them feel more comfortable.

Taking a first time family cruise to the Caribbean can be very affordable.  The islands offer you an opportunity to save money by going ashore and venturing off on your own without paying for a shore excursion.

Here's The Top 9 Reasons To Choose a Cruise
3/24/2007 10:43:36 AM Link
Here are the top 9 reasons to choose a cruise. Over 83% of first time cruise guests will travel again according to CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association). Cruises offer higher satisfaction rates than any other vacation experience. Cruise lines offer hundreds of ships and itineraries to choose from. There is a cruise ship and itinerary to suit most travelers. So what is there to love about cruising? Below is a list of reasons to love cruises. It is not all inclusive.

1. Simplicity is what cruise vacations are about, make your decision once and it is done.

Life can be stressful in today's modern age. Many people today have stress from all different angles. People may have stressful jobs, a stressful boss, stress at home or just on the go all the time. A cruise can help relieve that stress. In fact, planning your cruise is simple, contact your cruise expert and let them handle your details. Once you book your cruise and board your ship you can relax because you have no more major decisions to make.

2. Variety is what a cruise truly offers.

You can select cruises that offer a port almost every day, an itinerary with several sea days and several ports or a transatlantic/repositioning cruise that offers all sea days. If you really enjoy a port you visit and want to spend more time there you can always take a land vacation later on. Cruising gives you a flavor of different ports and cultures without the hassles.

3. Cruise ships and itineraries offer worldwide travel via the seas and rivers.

You can cruise for many years without ever seeing the whole world. Cruise ships travel the 7 continents. Typically, the major cities of the world are on a cruise itinerary. Once at a port, there are many options to visit other cities either by shore excursions and/or pre and post land packages. You can extend your stay in larger city to experience the true culture.

4. Imagine packing once and unpacking once.

Cruises offer this. In fact, depending on the cruise line and stateroom you select your butler will unpack and pack for you. If you ever have done a land bus tour you will truly understand the convenience of unpacking and packing once on a cruise ship. Cruises
save you a lot of time because you do not have to pack and unpack or dig through your suitcases. Take that time and relax and have fun.

5. Plenty of first class food

It's no secret cruise lines offer plenty of food to choose from. There is a consistency of food and service. You can tantalize your taste buds with exotic fares or old standbys such as pizza, hamburgers and ice cream. There are healthy menu choices along with special dietary meals custom made for those that require it. Choose from different dining venues such as ballroom style, Italian cafes, or a quaint bistro. You can even have room service 24 hours a day.

6. Value is already built into the price with first class service and pampering

You pay one price for the stateroom. Then your ship is your floating hotel and all entertainment, shows, general spa usage, special functions, meals, casino and more are included. Some itineraries offer on-board guest lecturers, historians and select theme nights. Many ships now have Internet access, computers, enrichment programs to learn such things as a language, excel, Microsoft word, adobe photo shop, instruments etc. Many have dance hosts for single travelers.

7. Be as active as you want or do as little as you want.

You can always curl up on your balcony with room service, a good book or just watch the sea go by with a gentle breeze in your face. You can seat on deck chairs by the pool, in the sun, all day. You can participate in activities at the crack of dawn and continue none stop to the early morning hours. That's the luxury of cruising.

8. Take a cruise vacation and return relaxed

Don't take a vacation to return home feeling like you need another one. If you select the right cruise you will return home feeling relaxed and re-energized.

9. Cruises are family friendly

Families love to cruise. Cruise lines offer children programs, kid-friendly menus and tours of the ship. Depending on your needs, this can allow you some time alone. Safety is a primary concern of cruise lines and cruises are rated the highest for safety.

Cruises can offer you the vacation of a lifetime. You can see the world, completely unwind, dance all night, taste fabulous cuisine, learning something new, make new friends, rekindle romance with your spouse or just do what ever you want.

Proven Advice To Save Time And More Money And Fine Your Perfect Vacation --by an Expert
3/18/2007 4:14:36 PM Link

Save time and money finding your perfect vacation. Research before you book. Have you sometimes experienced information overload?

The Internet offers literally hundreds, if not thousands of websites where you can research and book your cruise. It sounds easy and appealing doesn't it? Fill out a form,Input your credit card and off you go. If it were only that easy. The fact is, booking a cruise is nothing like booking an airline seat on line. Once you select a cruise then there are options as to dining, stateroom location, stateroom type, size, inside, ocean view, balcony, suite, ship board options, whats included, etc verses booking a airline seat as either coach, business class or first class on a plane. There are so many choices when considering a cruise.

Lets examine some things that you should consider before doing all the work yourself.

There are basically three types of web sites where you can book on line:

1 . Cruise Lines Sites - There are some cruise lines that allow you to book directly with them through their website.

      2. Mega-Sites - For example, Expedia, Travelocity etc. These sites are actually travel agencies which are paid commissions by the cruise lines. They have enormously large marketing and advertising budgets. However, this does not necessary make them the best place to purchase your cruise.

      3. Travel Agent Websites - These represent independent websites that have implemented content and/or booking technologies. This are smaller in comparison to mega sites.

Can you be sure that the price, cruise experience and stateroom you book online is the best value? Maybe yes and then maybe no. I am not a big fan of booking online. Since I have been cruising for over 20 years I cannot come up with a compelling reason to do so. Remember, you are not buying an airline seat, book or widget. This is your vacation. Quite possibly your 3rd biggest expense for the year. It is just as easy to pickup the telephone and talk to a real person (cruise expert, as explained in a previous email. I told you how to find a true cruise professional) and let them do all the work. After all, you are the customer, right?

The misconception that the price you see on the online booking site is the best price, is just that. Have you ever found a price, clicked on it and found out the price was for a different date or did not include port charges, government taxes or fees? This happens far too often. It's similar to the car dealer that offers a very low advertised rate or low lease payment in the Sunday paper to get you to come in and then baits and switches you to a higher priced car.

The only way to know that you are getting the best cruise vacation value is to deal directly with a professional cruise expert. That is why, I never would deal directly witha cruise line website or even via telephone directly with the cruise line. I prefer to have an advocate on my side just in case something goes wrong or a problem arises.

I guess if I was forced to book online I would do so with a travel agent website thus providing me with a live person if a problem were to arise. Smaller agencies would be better than booking directly with mega sites or the cruise line. (Many front line cruise representatives lack real cruise experience or sufficient training and some have never cruised on the line they represent).

My preference is a smaller agency with personal service. Why not, it does not cost anymore. So why not get the best price and value along with the service.

So, my recommendation is to use the Internet to do your initial research before you get information overload. Then, talk with a live cruise expert before putting your deposit down.

What Every Cruise Vacationer Ought To Know -- About How To Avoid Disappointments from the Start
3/10/2007 12:30:16 PM Link

Looking for Problems is a mistake!

No matter where you travel you are going to meet individuals that complain  so how do you avoid disappointments?  There is no vacation, cruise or otherwise, that is perfect in the literal sense. If you cruise long enough you will undoubtedly meet someone like this. You may feel they are complaining just to complain. There is always potential for problems to arise. Usually the problems are very minor and do not affect normal passengers.

A bigger shock for you or passengers might be seeking compensation because of a disappointing cruise. What I mean is, you may only receive a discount (usually 10-25%) on a future sailing. The exception is, if your cruise was cancelled or you won a legal battle in court. If not, then you will not receive your money back. There have been extreme cases such as the air conditioning or plumbing that did not work for the entire cruise then the passenger might be offered a full credit on a future sailing, but the airfare and port charges are seldom refunded.

Always discuss your cruise expectations with your travel expert regarding, food, entertainment, and level of luxury before you book to avoid a let down in the first place. You are not likely to receive any reimbursements for disappointments unless you take legal action.

Remember, cruise lines work very hard to anticipate and plan for any potential problems.  Most crew members want passengers to be satisfied. It is in the cruise lines' best interest to make you happy so you will tell your friends and come back.

It Seems Incredible That You Can Achieve Total Relaxation and You Feel Renewed With Less Stress
3/3/2007 5:04:40 PM Link

Step number one is----- you guessed it, take a cruise vacation.

Step number two-----I bet you did not guess this one.

For most folks vacations are a really big deal.  Relaxation and feeling renewed is important. Today, more than ever we live in a fast paced high tech world.  Many of us are looking to get away and relax.  For most folks, the vacation is really a big deal because they are desperate to escape from their regular life.  Many have made that worse for themselves by an umbilical cord plugging into non-stop stress with vibrating, singing, ringing cell phones, headsets, beepers, e-mail, handheld wireless e-mail retrieval doohickeys.

I'm telling you: that is one gigantic mistake. If anything's going to shorten your life it'll be that non-stop, constant noise.  Turn it off.  Shut others up.  Control your schedule, your life, your cruise vacation.

Try it on your next vacation. I am betting you will notice a difference.
